Haleakala National Park

Haleakala National Park in Maui is one of the coolest places I've ever been to, centered around the namesake volcano that's over 3000 meters above sea level. The scenery at the top of Haleakala is otherworldly, making the park one of my favorite places on the island.

What makes the park so unique is the Haleakala Crater accessed via the Sliding Sands Trail, a brilliant volcanic landscape that's the closest thing you can get to Mars here on Earth. Within the barren but stunning scenery, I got to see a whole flock beautiful Hawaiian Geese (also called the Nene) near the summit, one of the rarest birds on Earth.
